Elaina Reese, MSE

Project Coordinator

Elaina is originally from Buffalo, New York.  She earned her Master of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Michigan and has a background in clinical research coordination and health policy.  Elaina oversees all of our team research projects. 



Jackie Duckett

Jackie is a PhD student in Developmental Science at Wayne State University. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Michigan State University in 2022. Jackie is a recipient of the Dean's Diversity Fellowship and is interested in the health and psychological well-being of older adults.

​Sabrina Blank 
Sabrina is a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Wayne State University, with a minor in health psychology. Sabrina graduated from Hope College in 2022 with a bachelor's in psychology and a minor in neuroscience. Her research interests include clinical health psychology and the relationship between stress and physical health/physiology.
​Sarah Clark, MA
​Sarah is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology at Wayne State University, with a minor in community psychology. Sarah received her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Dayton. She is interested in using community-based participatory research and implementation science to improve accessibility, equitability, and efficacy of health care services for underserved populations.

​Athena Chan, PhD


​Athena recently completed her PhD in Family and Social Sciences.  Her research interests include intergenerational relationships, family dynamics, and family resilience.  


​Alexis Sierra Burns

Alexis is a Research Assistant in the SHARE group.  She is a recent graduate of Penn State University and an aspiring clinical researcher. At Penn State, Alexis studied Biobehavioral Health & Psychology.



​Brittney M. Williams, LMSW-C  

Brittney is a social worker with the Washtenaw County Office of Public Defender.  She is interested in the carceral and reentry experiences of formerly incarcerated LGBT+ older adults.   Brittney is currently a PhD student in Social Work at Wayne State University. 


​Kathleen Lertzmann

​Kathleen is a research assistant on our team. She recently completed her Master of Public Health degree and has extensive experience in project management and fundraising.  Most recently, she worked as a senior development manager for the American Cancer Society.  Kathleen's current interest include qualitative research methods and program planning/development.





​​Kayla Habermehl 

​Kayla is a Science Communications Specialist currently working toward a Master's Degree in Public Health.  Kayla earned bachelors degrees in Journalism and Anthropology at Michigan State University and formerly worked as a journalist for the Flint Journal/MLive. 

​Imani Evans, MPH
Imani earned her Master of Public Health degree from Tulane University, with expertise in epidemiology and data science. She is originally from Chicago and currently lives in Washington, D.C. where she works as a data analyst.


​Erika Karoll, BS

Erika completed her Master of Public Health degree in 2022 and currently works with the SHARE group as a research assistant. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Biology in 2021.  Erika is currently working on a project focused on health service utilization among formerly incarcerated older adults. 

Jay Elias


​Jay is currently majoring in psychology at Wayne State University with plans to pursue a Master's Degree in Art Therapy. He lives in Detroit and provides free art workshops to veterans and first responders.
